Special Election Candidate Filing: Dec 5-19

The City of Columbia Heights is scheduled to hold a municipal special election on Feb 13, 2024. Candidates who wish to file to fill the City Council seat of Councilmember KT Jacobs, if recalled, can submit filings Dec 5 through Dec 19.  

To be a candidate, individuals must complete an affidavit of candidacy and submit a $15 filing fee at Columbia Heights City Hall (3989 Central Ave NE) during the designated period. City Hall hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm, and until 5 pm on Dec 19.

Any individual considering candidacy should verify they are qualified before filing for office. When filing an affidavit of candidacy, individuals must state under oath that they are eligible to vote, will be at least 21 years of age upon taking office, and will have been a resident of the ward for at least 30 days before the election.
