The mission of the Columbia Heights Recreation Department is to provide recreational and service opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. The Recreation Department offers vast, year-round, comprehensive programs that strive to meet the needs of the whole community. These programs include Youth Athletics/Programs, Traveling Athletics, Youth Enrichment Programs, Adult Athletics, Senior Citizens Center, Senior Citizen Outings, Special Events, John P. Murzyn Hall management, Community Garden Plot Rentals, Neighborhood Event Wagon Rentals, Park Scheduling, and Hylander Gym and Fitness Center management. With the support of the Mayor, City Council, Park and Recreation Commission, City Manager, and the many civic and community organizations, the high quality delivery of services and opportunities are provided through the dedicated work of the Recreation staff and our numerous volunteers.

The Governor's Order 20-99 has limited the type of programs we would typically offer in the winter months. Check back regularly for updates on the following program categories:
Youth: ENCORE community learning programs, dance, theater, youth enrichment, sports programs, family yoga, and more.
Adults: exercise for all adult ages, crochet, 55+ art classes.

John P. Murzyn Hall & Hylander Center
The City of Columbia Heights operates a variety of facilities for use by residents and the general public.
(near City Hall) is available for weddings, receptions, banquets, meetings, events and more. Call 763-706-3730 for details and to discuss COVID-19 guidelines.
Hylander Center (adjacent to the Columbia Heights High School): gym and fitness.
