Inaugural Art Exhibit at the Columbia Heights
Public Library
Columbia Heights, Minn. -- The Columbia Heights Public Library is organizing its first art exhibition in the new library building at 3939 Central Ave. NE. The exhibit, titled “The Manhattan Project,” is a photography exhibit featuring the latest work from local artists Walter Horshnyk and Richard Ott.

“The Library Board and the Library Design Task Force envisioned the new library as a potential venue for arts in the City of Columbia Heights,” said Renee Dougherty, Library Director. “We are excited to fulfill that vision.”

The library will host two events in conjunction with The Manhattan Project photography exhibit. Both events are free and open to the public. On Friday, November 3, from 6:00-9:00 p.m., the library will host an opening reception. The artists will provide cool jazz, hors d’oeuvres, and refreshments. On Monday, November 13, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., the library will host the artists for a slideshow presentation followed by a question and answer period.

The Manhattan Project will feature work from the artists’ recent excursion to the heart of Midtown Manhattan. “Each day in New York, we sallied forth as the valiant knights of the still image,” said Horishnyk, “Wending our way where sun, shadow, and crowds beckoned.” The artists hope that the exhibit will give viewers a good look at mankind in Manhattan.

The Manhattan Project photo exhibit will be on display at the Columbia Heights Public Library from November 3-December 15.
