Piano Public Art Applications Due June 5

Submit a design to paint a piano for public art!

The City of Columbia Heights is installing an outdoor piano this summer and we are searching for an artist to volunteer to paint the piano. The City Council has received a donated piano from Community UMC Church and Heightsnext has covered the cost of the piano movers and paint. Artists should submit a sketch or draft plan of their art to the City Council. Preference will be given to artists from Columbia Heights. We are seeking a design that connects to the environment, sustainability, or our diverse cultures in Columbia Heights.

We will select one artist for this pilot program of the piano and hopefully have more opportunities in the future. Artists are not paid for this work. The City reserves the right to change or update the art as needed.

Applications are due by Mon, June 5. Selection by Fri, June 9, and we would like to have the piano painted and installed before Jamboree on Wed, June 21. Click here to submit an application.
