Fall Yard Waste Collection Update

The City of Columbia Heights has organized daily yard waste collection starting on Sept 26. Residents won't need to schedule a yard waste pickup during the fall season. The City also plans on removing the yard waste drop-off box due to the daily citywide yard waste collection.

Information regarding fall yard waste collections:

  • Curbside yard waste pick-up by request will end after the Sept 20-21 pick-ups.
  • Better Futures will continue to collect the yard waste, but starting on Sept 26 they will conduct citywide collection so there will be no need to schedule a yard waste pickup.
  • The citywide yard waste collections are expected to take no more than 10 days, there will be no schedule. Better Futures will start on one end of the city and work through to the other end of the city.
  • Please do not wait until the end of the season to bag your leaves or the yard waste collections will become overwhelmed and may not be able to collect all the yard waste before winter.
  • Simply put, if you have yard waste put it on the curb and it will get picked up in 10 days or less.
  • Haul Star will continue to empty the compost carts on your regular service day. Please note there is an extra cost for ordering a compost cart.
  • Please remember if you have any questions, issues, or requests, to fill out the refuse support form here.
  • A citywide postcard will be mailed out in the coming weeks to reach those without Internet access.
