Yard Waste Collection Update and Reminders

Yard Waste Collection Update and Reminders
This week marks the final week for bags and bundles of yard waste pickup, but the compost carts are emptied year-round. With Thanksgiving Day later this week, Thursday and Friday service will be delayed by a day. The 2020 recycling schedule can be found here.

Winter Pickup Schedule
Every other week organics pickup will begin the week of Nov 30 and continue until the end of March. Move compost carts to the alley for service starting on Nov 30.

A Few More Reminders
Yard waste consisting of leaves, grass clippings, acorns, garden waste, pine cones, needles, soft-bodied green plants, weeds, and other non-woody vegetation can be mixed together for collection. Set bagged or bundled yard waste on the curb in front of your home. Brush must be bundled in manageable 3-foot lengths not to exceed an 18" roll. The only container allowed for yard waste collection is a City provided yard waste/organics cart (call 763-706-3700 to order a compost cart), or a compostable bag. The State of MN requires yard waste bags meet ASTM D6400 standards for compostability. More information can be found here.

Recycling Center Closed Saturday
The Columbia Heights Recycling Center is closed on Sat, Nov 28.

Tree Waste
Anoka County has two compost sites that accept tree waste (for branches over 4"), yard waste, and Christmas trees. Please note that a fee may be charged. Follow this link for more info: https://www.anokacounty.us/359/Compost-Sites
