Library Celebrates Summer Programming Kickoff
Kids celebrated the beginning of summer with an interactive juggling performance, crafts, and activities Wed, June 12, at the Columbia Heights Public Library. The Summer Reading Kickoff event is a chance to get kids and families into the library early in the summer and provide them with the library's summer programming schedule and reading materials.

"We know that kids who read and engage in learning all summer long keep up the momentum they have during the school year, preventing summer learning loss," said Brianna Belanger, children's librarian. "I also think it’s important to expose kids to lots of different programming."

The library schedules a variety of events throughout the summer—cultural, entertainment, science, arts and crafts, etc—to provide a well-rounded learning experience. Click here for a calendar of the library's summer events.
