Volunteers Needed for Buddy Up and Read at the Columbia Heights Public Library

Make a Difference in Someone's Life
Every year the Columbia Heights Public Library seeks adult volunteers for the library’s “Buddy Up and Read” program, which provides one-to-one assistance to adults looking to improve their reading skills.

The program is in its eighth year at the library and has shown positive results in people's reading skills and in their lives, said Cortni O'Brien, adult services librarian. It helps adults with low literacy or English as a second language improve their reading and language skills in a low-stress, supportive environment.

The library is looking for at least five more volunteers. The time commitment is one hour per week for six months. Call the Columbia Heights Public Library at 763-706-3690 for more information, or drop by the library at 3939 Central Ave NE, Columbia Heights, MN 55421, to complete a volunteer application.
