(Unpaid Internship)

Primary Duties:
Performs responsible technical work of a varied nature in support of the IS Department.  Work is performed under the general supervision and direction of the IS Director, but the employee generally works with considerable independence, using discretion and judgment in completing duties.

Essential Job Functions:
1.    Installs, configures and updates hardware and software for IS components.
2.    Troubleshoots IS components, both remotely and onsite at different locations.
3.    Assists City employees in the use of Microsoft Office and other programs.
4.    Updates IS inventory and other records related to department activities and functions.
5.    Assists IS staff with other projects as assigned.
6.    Performs other duties related to the position as required.

Required Qualifications:
High-school graduate or equivalent.
One year of post-secondary education in information systems support or one-year experience in the support of Windows 7 and Windows 10 PC and Microsoft Office.
Valid MN driver license and satisfactory driving record.
Knowledge of PC, Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 10, and networking technology and terminology.
Ability to support and troubleshoot Windows-based PCs and laptops hardware and software.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
Ability to multitask and prioritize.
Ability to learn new information systems efficiently and effectively.
Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds on occasion.

Desired Qualifications:
A+ or another certification in the information technology field.
Two years experience in the support of Windows-based PC and Microsoft Office.
One year experience in the support of library information systems.

Salary:  This position is an unpaid internship.

Hours: 16-24 hours/week, Monday - Friday. Hours can be flexible to accommodate college schedule.
