Officer or Staff Complaint

The Columbia Heights Police Department takes all complaints regarding the conduct of its members seriously. The Department will accept and address all complaints of misconduct in accordance with Department policy and applicable federal, state and local law, municipal and county rules and the requirements of any collective bargaining agreement. Any member(s) of the public who experienced, witnessed or have knowledge of police employee misconduct may make a complaint without fear of reprisal.

How to File a Complaint

  1. Obtain a complaint form by visiting or calling the Police Department (763-706-8100)
    1. Return the completed complaint form to deliver the complaint to any police employee
    2. Deliver the complaint via mail to the police department at 825 41st Ave NE
    3. Email the completed form to Police@columbiaheightsmn.gov
  2. Complete the online complaint form below.

 You may also contact the on-duty sergeant and report your concern by calling 763-427-1212. If you contact the on-duty sergeant, you may still be asked to complete the online form which is below.

If You Choose to Remain Anonymous

Any complaint submitted anonymously will be accepted and investigated to the fullest extent possible. We would like to note that any complaint submitted anonymously may impact our ability to conduct a thorough and complete investigation.

Complaint Follow-up

The complainant will be contacted by the complaint investigator with the outcome of the investigation. In compliance with applicable federal and state laws regarding employee privacy rights only the complaint finding will be disclosed.
