Overview
- A Smoke Shop License is needed if any sampling of tobacco products takes place on the premises.
- Smoke Shop licenses are issued annually for the calendar year (January 1 to December 31).
- The fee for the license is $300 per year.
- There are only five licenses issued (per city ordinance) for this type of business. At the present time, all licenses are accounted for.
Once the application and fee are submitted, the application goes to the Police Department for a background check of the applicant. If that is found to be satisfactory, it the application goes before the City Council at its next scheduled meeting.
The process generally takes about four to five weeks for the license to be issued.
