Monarch Festival

The National Wildlife Federation’s Mayors’ Monarch Pledge encourages communities to create habitats for the monarch butterfly and other pollinators and educate residents about how to make a difference. Columbia Heights has committed to the pledge for the third time in 2023. As part of the pledge, the City will hold a Monarch Festival Aug 9 with activities and entertainment celebrating pollinators.
On Wednesday, August 24, starting at 5 pm, the community is invited to celebrate the monarch butterfly. A bilingual Spanish and English celebration with monarch & pollinator information booths, food trucks, games, traditional Mexican dance and music, an Encanto & Coco dance party, a monarch costume parade, and an opportunity to learn more about how we can help monarch butterflies. And, if dressing up for fun events suits you, come dressed as a butterfly or pollinator.
