Tenth Judicial District Hosts 'Equal Justice' Community Meeting
This SunFocus article covers the 10th Judicial District’s Community Dialogue and Listening Session that was held on January 31.  Members from the CHPD, as well as its Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee, attended this session which was held to gather feedback and suggestions for improvement about the criminal justice and court systems in this district.

Minneapolis Man Charged with Firearm Violations, Flee Attempt
A SunFocus News story on a Minneapolis man who  has been charged with a number of violations to include firearm violations and attempting to flee an officer after an incident in Columbia Heights where Chief Nadeau observed the driver driving recklessly and nearly hitting multiple vehicles.  The Chief initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled.  Officer Piehn assisted and followed the vehicle until the driver bailed and tossed a loaded handgun.  After a foot pursuit, the driver was apprehended.

Columbia Heights Police Chief Recognized for Mental Health Efforts

Columbia Heights Shop with a Cop Helps Families in Need
The annual Columbia Heights Police Department Shop with a Cop program set a record in both
donations and number of families helped this year. A total of 17 families got the chance to buy
gifts. This year’s donations totaled more than $7,000.

40 Under 40
The Police Chief magazine runs a story on the IACP's (International Association of Chiefs of Police) 40 Under 40 Award. This award is given to law enforcement professionals who "demonstrate leadership and exemplify commitment." Sergeant Pletcher was one of the year's award winners.

'Eat & Greet' gathers community and officers together

National Civic League Newsletter
The National Civic League published an article in their July 2016 newsletter titled "Yes, Virginia, There are Good examples of Police-Community Relations." This article talks about examples of great community policing from the winners of the 2016 All-America City competition recently held in Denver, Colorado. Columbia Heights PD is held up as one example where the police department works with the school district to engage kids in positive relationships with police.
