The City of Columbia Heights was honored to be a winner of the 2016 All-American City Award. This year's award focused on the community's efforts towards ensuring "children are healthyy and supported in school and life." The award application included three projects; the City/School Collaboration, The City of Peace Park Initiavitve, and The New Library.

The CHPD is honored to announce that we've been notified by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) that we are a finalist in our population category for their 2015 Community Policing Award. These awards recognize outstanding community policing initiatives worldwide. According to IACP President Richard Beary, "No single factor has been more crucial to reducing crime levels than the partnership between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve." The CHPD is proud to be of service to the Columbia Heights and Hilltop communities.

L. Anthony Sutin Civic Imagination Award Nomination Letter
The U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) has announced a team from Columbia Heights, Minnesota as the winner of the 2015 L. Anthony Sutin Civic Imagination Award. Chief Scott Lewis Nadeau of the Columbia Heights Police Department and Superintendent Kathy L. Kelly of the Columbia Heights School District are the recipients of the 2015 award recognizing their efforts to meet the specific needs of the students in their community and to build trust between law enforcement and youth.

Hot-Spot Crime Reduction Through Community Partnership
The City of Columbia Heights has been notified that the Columbia Heights Police Department (CHPD) has been selected to receive the 2012 IACP Community Policing Award. This prestigious international award goes to only one agency a year in the world in one of five population categories. Prior to 2012, only two Minnesota police departments had won the award, New Brighton and Minneapolis. This year, Duluth was also selected as a recipient in the over 100,000 population category. The CHPD is the only police department in Minnesota in the under 20,000 population category.
