Welcome

The Columbia Heights Police Department (CHPD) is a progressive and community-oriented policing agency that relies heavily on important partnerships to accomplish its core mission of reducing crime and promoting safety in the Columbia Heights and Hilltop communities.

On this website you will find that our strategic community partnerships include a number of ways that we connect with our community’s citizens, groups, and youth. We accomplish this through a variety of means such as:

  • Interacting with citizens in crime prevention activities.
  • Administering Neighborhood Watch
  • Attending National Night Out
  • Interacting with citizens in crime prevention activities
  • Participation in community events
  • Providing educational presentations to groups

Our proactive efforts directed toward youth include our School Liaison Program, our instruction of DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) in the community’s schools and other interactions such as our Cops-N-Kids mentoring program.

The CHPD also utilizes a number of proactive alliances with other entities including other law enforcement agencies, criminal justice partners, and close collaboration with other county, state, and municipal departments in an effort to address community issues such as crime, livability and fear of crime in Columbia Heights, Hilltop, and surrounding communities.

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions on how the CHPD can better work with you, I invite you to contact me or any of the staff at the Police Department to discuss your ideas or concerns. I think that although you will find that the CHPD is a community-focused agency that will exceed your expectations in its delivery of law enforcement services, you will also find that it is an agency that is willing to listen to citizens and community partners as it strives to continue to build upon the important connections that enhance our community.

We appreciate your partnership and stand ready to work with you in helping to keep Columbia Heights a great community.
